All the kiddos that day did a great job! I am so proud we have such a great service in our County to help with income-based access to dental care. The bus shows up to schools and kids with a permission slip can get on and get an exam, cleaning, x-rays, sealants, fillings, or any other dental service offered in a general dentist office right there on the bus! This is a great program and one all the dentists in our office have been proudly serving for many years.

The Delta Dental Foundation is providing much-needed dental work to area children through the Ottawa County Health Department’s Miles of Smiles mobile dental clinic.
On Thursday, the rolling clinic made a stop at West Ottawa’s Woodside Elementary School.
The program has covered 22,000 miles over the past six years and is looking to serve more children with a new $10,000 grant this year from the Delta Dental Foundation.
The clinic provides on-site dental services to uninsured and Medicaid-eligible children in Ottawa County, visiting schools, homeless shelters and Head Start programs.
“Children’s oral health is important to their school success,” Teri Battaglieri, director of the Delta Dental Foundation, said in a news release. “Dental problems cause children to miss too much time in the classroom. We’re supporting this program because good oral health will help ensure that kids show up for school every day healthy, pain-free and ready to learn.”
Volunteer dentists and dental hygiene students provide the services, including exams, radiographs, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorations and extractions.
Dr. Curtis had the pleasure of riding with the Grand Haven Rotary in the 2012 Jingle Bell Parade this past Saturday Night. Thank you to everyone who made it a great night! Thanks also to my fellow float volunteers: Float driver John Clickner, Gerry Witherell and his grandson, all the grandchildren of John Lepard, Dr. David Seibold and his wife Dotty, and Dean Buntley and his children. What a fun event!
